The moving suitcase – the bewægede Kuffert

After the Market Show by Silke Lazarević and Susanne J. Koch on 2 March at 12:30 pm

The leaders of the German-Danish art project give an insight into their many years of work. A German-Danish group of artists with twelve permanent members and annually changing guests has been working together successfully across borders for twelve years, tackling new themes in annual symposia and exhibitions at different locations in Denmark and Germany. Visual and applied artists work together. They are involved in the respective professional organisations on both sides of the border. As founding members and organisers on the German side, Susanne J. Koch and Silke Lazarević report on the history of the project from the first planning phase in 2011 to the present day.

In 2024, the artists’ group’s annual symposium on the theme of Sint/Sinn Flut will take place in St Nicolai’s Church in Eckernförde. The church is home to numerous art treasures, including a painting of the Flood. It is not a central work of art and hangs in the side aisle rather out of the way and far above viewing height. You could be forgiven for thinking that this takes the focus away from the subject – the Flood is over. Nevertheless, it hangs menacingly over the heads of visitors. A reminder?

The speakers present their concept to visitors to the market review. The presentation uses pictures to guide visitors through the various stations in museums, in the lime quarry in Faxe, an abandoned customs house in Nakskov on Lolland, in a brick factory and an aluminium casting. The speakers will give an insight from their own experience and answer questions from the audience.

Admission is free.
