The board of friends of otte1 – Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus awards scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein every year – subject to coverage by the state budget. Applications are open to artists in the fields of visual arts, music/composition and literature. Every two years, a separate curatorial scholarship is offered for the artistic direction of the house.
Scholarships are awarded to persons who are no older than 40 or whose university degree was obtained no longer than five years ago.
The grants are awarded as three-month work and residency scholarships. The application is made via a portfolio. A concrete project does not necessarily have to be carried out; research and the development of project approaches are also eligible for funding.
The amount of a scholarship is currently 1,000 euros per month.
Applications can only be made via an online form, which is always available on this page from 1 August to 30 September of the previous year. No confirmation of receipt will be sent.
In 2023 and only in 2023 the application period will be brought forward to 1 May until 30 June.
The evaluation is carried out by a jury of experts at the end of each year. The awarded scholarship holders will be informed in writing by otte1 about the duration and period as well as the studio they have been allocated a scholarship for. Cancellations will not be sent. The names of the scholarship holders will be published on the website of the otte1.
