These words were written by the artist as she condensed her photographic approaches into this current exhibition titled Break. » Break. Step 1 « and » Break. Step 2 « are her personal reflection to what began on 24 February, 2022.

Break comes to English from the Old Frisian breka, or the Proto-Germanic brekanan. In Old English brecan is “to divide solid matter violently into parts or fragments; to injure, violate (a promise, etc.), destroy, curtail; to break into, rush into; to burst forth, spring out; to subdue, tame.

» Break. Step 1 « and » Break. Step 2 « invites audiences to dive into a Journey together with Apollinariia Ilina. This is not only about Breaking or stopping with the past. This collection of works reflect a process of different steps of adaptation of the changing environment.
