The artists’ residency “otte1” – named after its location at Ottestraße 1 – is a place for artistic work and international encounters. It supports professional artists in the fields of visual arts, literature and composition contemporary music by awarding residency scholarships.

University Society event: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

The Eckernförde section of the Schleswig-Holstein University Society is hosting a series of lectures at the Schleswig-Holstein Artists’ House otte1.

On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., Prof. Dr. Ulrich Stephani, Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine II, UKSH, will speak on a topic that concerns not only many parents of adolescents, as his lecture will address the question of what lies behind attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

In the past, they were called fidgety Philips: Attention deficit disorder (ADD, when combined with hyperactivity: ADHD) is a disorder that is particularly common among male schoolchildren. It is often diagnosed and treated with medication by pediatricians and family doctors using methylphenidate (usually Ritalin® or Medikinet®). Not only child and adolescent psychiatry, but also neurology at this age knows many different causes and conditions for the development of ADD/ADHD. Before any therapy, it is important to make as accurate a diagnosis as possible with targeted examinations. This is followed by appropriate counseling and therapy, e.g., with neurological, educational, and, if necessary, psychiatric/psychotherapeutic methods.

The lecture will take place at the Schleswig-Holstein Künstlerhaus, Ottestraße 1, 24340 Eckernförde.
