Scholarship holder Apollinariia Ilina introduced

Apollinariia Ilina graduated from the Moscow University of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. She has also worked as a cinematographer in film. In her research she has dealt with problems of perceptual psychology. Perception in art involves a complex relationship between visual stimuli embedded in a cultural and historical context and their individual understanding.

The artist bases her work on observing people and communicating with them. She processes the experience gained from this into a dialogue of the outer and inner self. The duality of perceptions, the desire to always see the point of view of others, leads her to work with mirrors and reflective surfaces and to deal with distortions of reality. The dialogue often leads to different interpretations. Mirrors reflect, break the distorted reality.

In her projects, she turns to working with borderline situations, processing memory and sensations in reality and imagination. For the past year, the artist has been dealing with the problems of adapting creation to a changing world. She addresses the socio-political problems of the artist within the system that is destroying the physical and moral foundations. The artist explores how the body and soul react to fear and how a clash of external and internal events affect a person.
