Schleswig-Holstein – Land of Residences
The Eckernförde branch of the Schleswig-Holsteinische Universitäts-Gesellschaft is hosting a series of lectures at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus otte1.
On Wednesday, 18 June 2025 at 7 p.m., Prof. Dr. Oliver Auge from the History Department at Christian Albrechts University will speak on ‘Schleswig-Holstein – Land of Residences’.
Schleswig-Holstein offers a variety of attractions and attracts numerous visitors every year. They are often surprised by how many former princely residences and homes there are in this region. The large number of these representative buildings is linked to the former strong territorial fragmentation of the state. Professor Auge’s lecture will begin with a vividly illustrated overview of the residences in Schleswig-Holstein. He will also explain the different types of residences. In the second part, he will use a few selected examples to shed light on their origins and development.
The lecture will take place at the Künstlerhaus Schleswig-Holstein, Ottestraße 1, 24340 Eckernförde.
Admission: Non-members €5. Members of all sections, school pupils, students and trainees free of charge.
