Political right-wing extremism: A threat to our democracy?
The Eckernförde branch of the Schleswig-Holstein University Society is hosting a series of lectures at the Schleswig-Holstein Artists’ House otte1. On Wednesday, 15 October 2025, at 7 p.m., Prof. Dr. Karl Heinrich Pohl from the History Department at Kiel University will give a lecture entitled: Political right-wing extremism: A threat to our democracy?
The lecture will focus on the historical foundations of the current political situation in Germany. Why is it possible that right-wing radicalism has become socially acceptable again in the country that was responsible for the greatest crimes of the 20th century during the Nazi era? Why is it particularly strong in some of the new federal states? Finally, the question will be asked what each individual can do to actively protect the foundations of our democratic state.
The lecture will take place at Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus, Ottestraße 1, 24340 Eckernförde.
Admission: Non-members €5. Members of all sections, school pupils, students and trainees free of charge.
Admission: from 6.30 p.m.
