After the weekly market on Saturday, 23/09/2023, at 12:30pm, we will introduce our curatorial fellow Nicholé Velázquez.
He was born in New York in 1986. There he trained at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with Rika Burnham in 2000. In 2003, he studied at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, majoring in anthropology, and in 2005 at Hunter College of the City University of New York, studying international political economy. In the same year, he was the youngest recipient of the Joyceln Benzakin Fellowship Award.
In 2011, he relocated to Berlin. In 2018, he was awarded the Prix académique Industries & Cultures / Art faber. In 2023, he curated the exhibition “One For Tor – Never Leave” in Berlin together with Trevor Lloyd Morgan.
Nicholé Velázquez will look after the guests of the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus for a year, design the programme and be the contact person for the public. New mediation formats are part of his remit, as is an ear for suggestions that come to him from outside.
