Marktnachklang – Hed Bahack with 2 of his compositions

In the “Nach dem Markt” series, Hed Bahack will present two of his compositions on Saturday, November 23 at 12:30 pm.

The current scholarship holder for contemporary music, Hed Bahack, will be presenting two of his works at the upcoming Marktnachklang on November 23: Fantasies and Realities for ensemble and Gravitating in Space for string quartet. The extra-musical influences and musical aesthetics of these works will be discussed on the basis of sound recordings and scores.

Later on Saturday, as part of the Long Night of Music, the Ensemble Reflexion K will also present the program “On the in-between” on 23.11. at 18:00 at Künstlerhaus Otte1, which weaves a web of connecting lines to works by Mark Barden, Alessio Rossato, Pablo Araya and others based on the music of the composer Hed Bahack.

Personal details: Hed Bahack (*1994) is a composer who lives in Leipzig. Frequent themes in his works include the in-between, the dialectic between contrasts, synergy and the search for the utopian. These are often expressed through complex musical narratives based on the transformation of energy, movement and color.
His works have been performed by ensembles such as Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Ascolta, Quatuor Diotima, Klangforum Wien, and presented in festivals such as Impuls (Graz), ARCo (Marseille), “Remus Georgescu” (Timișoara), ZfGM (Leipzig). He has received several prizes, including: 1st Prize of the Society for Music Theory 2nd Prize “Szymanowski” (2022) as well as scholarships: German Music Council (2022), Rabinovich Foundation.
