Lets go for a walk

On 17 August at 12:30 pm, scholarship holder Sunčica P.K. will talk about her current project.

As part of the Otte1 residency activities, Sunčica P.K. is organising a sensory walk around the Eimersee as part of her research project “Ecosomatic Protocols of Kinship”.

In an anthropocentric, AI-driven world where everything is geared towards growing and reaching the furthest parts of the world, we want to come together and think new thoughts. Then we realise how disconnected we are from ourselves and the world around us.

We repeat old patterns and thriving becomes an individual endeavour rather than a collective endeavour. We are following a path that is not sustainable. However, we are nature, and we thrive through networks based on mutuality and co-operation. What can help us take a more earth-connected path, a path of symbiotic relationships and coexistence of species?

“Ecosomatic Protocols of Kinship” are a series of body technologies such as breathing, listening and perceptual exercises linked to biomimicry and speculative thinking. Their aim is to encourage communication and reconnection with nature and to encourage us to find new ways of listening, observing and engaging with the natural world around us. They take the form of guided walks (individual or group) and encourage us to explore familiar landscapes and imagine new perspectives.

“Ecosomatic Protocols of Kinship” are part of Sunčica P.K.’s methodology, which combines conceptual art with pedagogical approaches. With them, she attempts to collectively rethink the relationship between nature, technology and society. She is guided by the question: What kind of knowledge and technology can help create a less human-centred and more earth-centred future? Taking a cue from anthropologist Marilyn Strathern, who said that what matters is what ideas we use to think other ideas, she hopes to use the “Ecosomatic Protocols of Kinship” to create space for new thinking that is more planet-centred and cross-species minded.

If you are ready to engage in light meditative exercises, imitate the trees and follow the bees, we invite you to join us on 23 August. The walk will be conducted in English, starts at 1pm and lasts until 4pm. The meeting point is at the end of Feldweg where the path to Eimersee begins. GPS 54.48546, 9.84594

You can register until 20 August, but please note that each walk is limited to a maximum of 10 participants. To sign up, write to info@otte1.org and include your name. Come in comfortable shoes and clothes and bring a picnic blanket. Snacks and drinks will be provided by the artist.
