Laetitia Heisler: PASSAGES – a fragmented Archive

On Saturday 20 June at 12.30 pm, our scholarship holder Laetitia Heisler will open an exhibition of her works, which were created in Eckernförde. As a special highlight, the exhibition will be accompanied by a reading by Dara Brexendorf, who was awarded the Liliencron Young Talent Prize for Poetry from Schleswig-Holstein in January 2025.

Passages reconstructs a fragmented archive. Interwoven memories take shape in different forms: photographs, textiles, organic materials, videos and objects. They undergo various processes of transformation that challenge our perception. Each gesture attempts to bridge the gap described by Brexendorf: that between the lived body and the felt body, up to saturation.

Laetitia Heisler (born in 1991) is a French-German visual artist based in Berlin working with analogue photography, darkroom processes and installation. Her practice explores how memory and perception can be transformed through the image, often blurring the boundaries between inner experience and material reality. She uses photography as both a diaristic and an experimental tool.
Johanna lives in Hamburg and publishes her drawings in various publications, including ZEIT-Magazin, the FAZ, the taz, Der Spiegel and many more.
