Into May with culture!

The German Trade Union Federation (DGB) Eckernförde invites you to a cultural event on the eve of 1 May: Wednesday, 30 April 2025, 7.30 pm at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus, Ottestraße 1 in Eckernförde.

Jürgen Struck and Rainer Beuthel know each other as musicians from the formation ‘Gegen den Tritt’. They have come together again and will be performing an evening of songs from the tradition of the labour and trade union movement and resistance against fascism and war. There will also be original compositions such as ‘Die Ballade vom Fischer Heinrich Otto’ (Beuthel) and ‘Der betende Mann’ (Struck).

Beuthel will read his text ‘Die verschwundene Bibliothek’ (The vanished library) in remembrance of the trade union building at Vogelsang, which was converted into an SA centre by the Nazis in 1933 – a historical episode that was long forgotten….
